After going from demon hunter to babysitter, seventeen-year-old SHADOW has truly hit rock bottom. One week he’s slaughtering demons, and the next he has ten super-powered teenagers in his care. Shadow needs them, because without them he can’t hope to defeat his new foe. But he’s never dealt with other teenagers before. He never had a real childhood. He’s always been a loner. Hell, he’s tried the whole having-a-pet thing. It died.
Shadow’s mission: save the world and ensure his team survives the potential apocalypse. If MAEDARA, self-proclaimed fashionista and Queen of Evil, wasn’t trying to rule the world, it’d be cake. Now, not only does Shadow have to deal with teens more concerned with going to the mall than fighting evil, but also a villain who, in his opinion, makes Lady Gaga look like Mother Theresa.

Let’s Talk: Love with Derinda Love
Hello everyone! I’m here today with the amazing Derinda Love to speak a bit about my thoughts on love/romance, my novel, and the type of love that takes place in the story.
To start, I feel very strongly about love. I am a huge believer in love at first sight, love’s power to conquer all, and the way that love brings out the best in everyone involved. I think love is one of the closest things to real magic that we have in our world. If you have ever felt it, truly felt it, I think you’d agree as well. Love is just that powerful.

And the above being my true feelings on the subject, I’m sure readers would probably expect there to be a lot of love/romance in The Descending Darkness…but they’d only be partially correct.
I purposely left out any serious romantic tones. Sure, I put in plenty of subtext and already know which couples will get together in the second book, but I really wanted people to have the freedom to “ship” whatever pairings they want to. I wanted to give readers a chance to speculate and actually think hard about who likes which person/who loves which person. I think it’s always more fun to have that freedom.
One of my favorite things when I’m watching a show or reading a novel is to pair characters together that I feel have good chemistry. I didn’t want to take that away from anyone by establishing couples early on. That wouldn’t be any fun. And reading should be fun – I want people to have fun.
Seriously, I demand you have fun…or I’ll find you.
