Naomi Knox is missing.

I don't even f*cking know whether she's dead or alive.

What I do know is that she's the air I need to breathe.

She's my redemption, an all consuming fire that burns in my blood.

And I'll do anything to find her. Anything. Even if means the end for me.

Turner Campbell is searching.

But he has no f*cking clue what it is he's searching for.

There's darkness all around and enough secrets to choke.

There are angels, and there are devils. It's impossible to tell them apart.

Light needs to be shone on the truth, but there's no one left to hold the torch. The line between life and death is blurred, and the players are all thoroughly entrenched in the game. The question is: am I still one of them?

GET BENT (BOOK 2) EXCERPT:

I tap the vein in my right arm with two fingers and check the rubber tourniquet that's wrapped around my sweaty flesh, making sure it's pulled tight. I'm trying to set up a good injection site, so I can take the syringe I've got clutched between my teeth and shoot up. It's the only way I'll get through this. The only fucking way.

"Turner! What the hell is going on in there?" I slump against the wall and ignore Treyjan's hoarse shouting. He's been out there all damn morning, screaming his friggin' head off. I don't want to hear it anymore. He's driving me nuts.

I pull the syringe out of my mouth and slide the needle into my skin, hissing at the rush of white hot pain when it punctures my vein. I press the plunger down and wait. A few seconds later, I feel it in the back of my throat. It tastes like fucking victory, like accomplishment, like I'm king of the fucking world. I yank the needle out unceremoniously and toss it into the trash can. It lands on top of a mountain of used condoms and tissue paper, and it's probably unsanitary as shit, but I don't care. I don't care about anything right now except Naomi.

Naomi.

"Turner, get your fucking ass out here now!"

I rip the tourniquet off next and lay it on the counter, clutching the sides of the sink as I lean over and cough. Good meth always makes you cough. And it makes you feel so fucking good that even a nightmare like this starts to look like a dream.

"Are you slamming meth in there, motherfucker?" Trey screams, and he sounds like he's about to burst a damn vein this time. I lift my eyes up and stare at myself in the mirror. It's not a pretty sight. I look like shit. Jesus Christ. Have I been walking around like this for three days? My eyes are bloodshot and ringed with purple, and my lips are pale and cracked. I look like a Goddamn zombie.

"Don't get your panties in a wad, bitch," I call out to him, standing up and sniffing, letting my eyes fall closed for another minute. At least now I don't have to worry about how I'm going to get through another day. The drugs will take care of that for me.

Naomi.

I reach over and unlock the door.

Trey doesn't waste any time opening it and throwing me a death glare. I ignore him in favor of putting on some eyeliner. We have a show tonight, and I want to look good. Hell, I have to look good or I'm not getting onstage. My pain is private, not something to hang out for all to see. I'm not on display here.

"You got a hard-on for me or something?" I ask him, pretending that everything's alright, that my life has not just gone from bad to worse, that the breath has not just been suctioned out of my fucking lungs. "I can't even shit in peace anymore?" Trey looks down at the garbage, up at the tourniquet and sneers.

"You're just gonna get high everyday now?" I shrug, applying black around my eyes, making sure it's thick enough to hide the circles. Women love eyeliner on guys anyway. Or at least the women at my shows do, the ones with the piercings in their noses and the tattoos on their hips. I want to pick one of them up and fuck away the pain, but I can't do that to Naomi. For the first time in my life, I can't even imagine screwing another woman.

I look up at the ceiling as my brain seizures with false pleasure, misplaced hope, fatal courage.

"What are you now, Mother Theresa? We've gotten high everyday since we were sixteen." I pretend not to notice that Trey is wearing Travis' cap. Or whoever's cap. Still haven't figured that mystery out. There seem to be a whole shit ton of them floating around right now, and that's kind of the least of my worries.

Naomi.

"Not like this, Turner. Not fucking like this. What are you doing? You're gonna kill yourself." I don't tell my best friend that I don't care, that I'd rather die than live without Naomi Knox. I mean, how fucked up is that? Love sucks balls. Everybody always acts like it's the one thing worth living for, that spark in the fire that pulls you in, that strokes your hair back and lets you know that everything's going to be okay. Well now that I've fallen into it, nothing is okay. Nothing will ever be okay. I sipped from love's wine and now I'm drunk as shit without a place to lie down. My happy ending, my saving grace is lying dead in a morgue, cut up and fucked up, so mangled they can't even identify her damn body for sure. Oh, they say it's probably her because if not then, I mean, where the shit is she? Where? Where? Where the fuck are you, Knox? With your pretty blonde hair and your sunglasses and your fuck you all attitude.

So what are you waiting for people get Real Ugly and then Get Bent!!!!

CHARMED EXCERPT
Frankie

Sugar. I needed more of it if I was going to make it through this day. The chocolate croissant and caramel latte I had this morning wasn’t near enough to combat the massive lines, the noise, and disgruntled people that filled the DMV. Whatever in hell made me think that working at the Department of Motor Vehicles, here in Alaska, was a good idea?
Maybe it was the good pay. Maybe it was because I got weekends off.
Or maybe it was because I had a moment of temporary insanity that unfortunately coincided with me saying, "I accept," when I got offered this job.
Besides the fact that the lines were permanently out the door, the computer systems were temperamental at best, and my boss was a complete broom rider, my stash of chocolate and Sour Patch Kids was empty.
That meant someone was going to die today.
I glanced back up at the ninety-year-old woman whose head barely cleared the insanely high counters we stood behind and tried to hold on to my patience. "Mrs. Eldridge," I said extremely loudly. "Like I told you last week, you have to go and get new glasses before I can renew your driver’s license."
"I have new glasses," she insisted.
Lord, save me now.
"You got those ten years ago. You need some from this year." Or decade I finished silently.
She shuffled out of the line like a turtle and I took her slowness as a chance to really search beneath my station and chair for a long-lost piece of sugar. Anything. Even a stray jellybean would likely find its way into my blood stream at this point. Of course there was nothing. I briefly considered hiding beneath my desk until five o’clock. My car. I had an emergency stash in my car. I glanced at my watch. I had another hour until I was able to take a fifteen-minute break.
A pair of black pumps appeared before me and I inwardly groaned. Just what I neededa run-in with the witch. But instead of being greeted by her condescending, screechy tone, an icy-cold red can appeared before me.

Hallelujah, praise the Lord, it was caffeine and sugar!

I snatched the Coke out of her hand and popped the top, taking a large, satisfying chug. The bubbles crowded down my throat, slightly burning, and I took another swallow.

"I love you," I murmured to Lela, the girl who worked right beside me.

She laughed. "I know that look when I see it." Then she straightened and whispered. "Witch alert."
I shot up, my head bumping into the counter on the way. I wanted to shout out in pain, but I clamped my mouth shut, not wanting to draw the attention of my boss, Satan’s assistant.
I turned back to my line, my eyes colliding with a broad chest. I looked up, and the can slid out of my hand, hitting the floor with a thud while fizzy liquid poured over my favorite boots.
I didn’t even notice.

"What the hell are you doing here?" I growled as I looked around for something sharp I could stab him with.

A thick brow arched. "So is this where you spend your days? As if the DMV isn’t a horrible enough place to visit without the poor people of Alaska having to tolerate you."
There wasn’t enough sugar on this planet that would save him. I reached out and picked up the black phone. If I couldn’t bludgeon him to death here at my place of employment, then I could at least call the cops. I began dialing, but he reached over and cut the connection.
I slammed the phone down on his hand, which was still pressed on the hang-up button. Breath hissed between his teeth and his green eyes shot to mine. "Careful, George, you’re pissing off the wrong man."

"My name isn’t George."

He shrugged, pulling his hand away from the phone. "When you have a man’s name, does it really matter?"

Kris Pittman rated it 5 of 5 stars
I have only read one other dragon shifter book before, very different than this one, but I loved them both.

Ronnie comes from a broken home, a product of domestic abuse but she doesn't cling to her role as victim. She often deflects the anger of her step-father from her mother. She is a hero in that sense alone.

Liam is a dragon shifter with little experience guarding a ward of this sort. He is a fierce warrior and blood thirsty. I wont say Ronnie tames him, that is not true, but she helps him grow to learn that there is more to even a dragon than blood lust and war.

Their relationship is not easy and both make mistakes, it was quick and passionate but also sweet and affectionate.

*****SPOILERS BELOW*****

I wont usually post anything that can be viewed as a spoiler but I think this is the one refreshing detail that set this book apart from others!
OK, my spoiler has to do with the ending. Which I absolutely, 100% LOVED! Liam helped Ronnie grow enough that, even though she wanted him, she was not crippled by his leaving. She was strong enough to be alone! How often do you read where the heroine is just ruined, an empty husk, a shell of her former self, when her man leaves? It gets so old. I loved the courage it took Jeannette to NOT give Ronnie what many would perceive as the perfect happy ending. But to me these perfect happy endings are what hold us back from thinking that we have any worth outside of a relationship/couple. She found her worth and wasn't going to shrivel up and die because she was "alone". *GASP* God forbid.

Way to go, Jeannette, for sending the message that it isn't a relationship that makes you worthy of happiness.

Another point made: Domestic abuse is a cycle that can be broken without breaking you first

Cover Reveal "The Edge of Darkness by Melissa Andrea"

Araya Noelle
I used to dance. I loved to dance, but I don’t anymore. I was in an accident I don’t remember… or maybe I don’t want to remember. Either way, every day since, has been… an adjustment and I’m left with a constant reminder that nothing is forever. Now, my life is a tangled web of darkness filled with deceit, hate, betrayal and lies. I don’t dwell on the past, I don’t regret and I don’t remember. I thought I was surviving but then I met Ryland Dare and he changed everything. He reminded me that life’s worth living and that remembering isn’t always a bad thing.

You don’t know true darkness until you've felt light…

Ryland Dare.
On the outside looking in, some would say my siblings and I have had a pretty easy life. But beyond the fancy cars, the huge house and endless social events, is where the truth really lies. Power hungry father, defeated mother and fake friends? Yeah I have one of each. It’s not as depressing as it sounds. My brat of a sister, crazy ass brother and sweeter than sweet Annie, keep me entertained.
Then Araya Noelle comes along and shows me what I’ve been missing. She thinks I changed her life, but really, she saved mine.

At the edge of darkness, a ray of light, will dare them to HOPE. DARE them to LOVE. DARE them to LIVE

Excerpt:
I stepped toward her. "You have a way of making people relate to you."
She snorted. "I doubt that."
I was in front of her now, my face peering down into hers. "Really, you do. A few hours of knowing you feels like days."
"Sounds tiresome," she teased.
"It’s a gift," I countered.
There were sudden lines in her forehead, a troubled look in her eye. "Some might call it a curse," she murmured. "By the end of this trip, you’ll want me gone."
It was my turn to frown, my gaze studying her face. She had green eyes so dark they could be mistaken for brown and lashes so long they almost touched her brows. True, she was more willowy than curvy, but she was beautiful in an understated, elegant kind of way. The faint freckles on the bridge of her nose drove me crazy.
"Why do you think that?" I asked.
There was something stark and open about her eyes when she answered, "Because I am better at being abandoned than I am at keeping people."

EXCERPT:

No love, no friendship can cross the path of our destiny without leaving some mark on it forever.
Francois Muriac

The sun set. Just past the dock you could see the boats lining up and smoke billowing as the party started near the clearing. Country music drowned out the party not more than twenty feet from us, but it was him I saw. Only him.

I thoughthopedthat my feelings would have changed. But they haven’t, and in that moment I realized they probably never would.

I wasn’t sure I would ever see him again. And I’d certainly never wanted to after what I knew now. But part of me, the part that still held on to those eyes and that smart-mouthed southern drawl, was waiting for him to at least acknowledge me, tell me everything that happened wasn’t my imagination.

I’d gone over it in my head, what I’d say to himthe words, the expression, the tone. All of it. This, right now, wasn’t how I envisioned this would happen.

Barefoot, covered in thick Georgia mud, a beer in hand, and scars on my heart wasn’t how I planned it.

"You don’t remember me, do you?" I spat, regretting the words immediately. After last night, I said I’d let this go. But … I couldn’t. The liquid courage in my hand made sure of that.

I expected him to say somethinganythingbut there was only silence, the awkward kind before his eyes deceived him and he looked at me, briefly.

That expression, that one right there, told me what I needed without any words being spoken. He remembered but wouldn’t admit it because who wanted to admit they purposely broke someone’s heart?

He crumbled me with that lookthe only look I’d gotten since he’d been back.

Bensen, though a complete asshole at times, didn’t want to break my heart. "No," he said, his eyes on the lake avoiding any reaction I might have. He took that old worn baseball cap from his head with his right hand and ran his fingers through his mop of dusty brown hair before replacing it, agitated and aware.

But the thing was, all these years, all those summers of writing in that damn journal had led me here, remembering and regretting the things I couldn’t let go of.

"Well," I said, shifting my weight from one foot to the othermy journal, my life, my tears, and my dreams clenched in my sweaty palm.

My eyes drifted to his; he stared at my feet, wishing they’d move, wishing all of me would move away from him, but I couldn’t.

Feeling the sudden panic rise, my hand and heart trembled as I decided what I would do next.

I’d had enough remembering, and certainly enough regretting, so I did what I never planned to do when I opened that leather bound notebook all those years ago. Inside that book was a love bound by blue gray and sealed by the thick Georgia mud around us. It was pages and pages of nights I didn’t regret; it was memories of legs on the dash while singing Marshall Tucker and his arm around my shoulder, swimming after the sun went down and anything else those summers brought with it. Everything was in that book.

Unfortunately, my anger got the best of me. Searching for the moment, the lie I knew he’d been keeping, I wiped the tears from my heated cheeks, squaring my shoulders, before I threw the notebook at him. "Maybe this will help you remember."

Not that I expected anything less, given his behavior the last week, but the notebook fell at his feet, his eyes never moving as I walked past him.

"Read that, and tell me you don’t remember." I didn’t turn around, nor could I. I had just handed him my heart, as if he hadn’t already had it. Only now, nothing was hidden.

Suddenly, I’m thirteen again, living for the summer. The sun glowing, the days long and hot, sticky and heavy, everything his memory was.

Nathan is not only hot, but seems to peer into Paige’s soul, evoking a magnetic energy between them that cannot be denied. But he’s no ordinary guy. He tracks dark spirits, and becomes alarmed when they set their sights on Paige.

And then there are the two power-hungry dark spirits who believe Paige can find King Solomon’s magical ring for them, because when her father was alive, he was close to finding it. If Paige doesn’t comply with their demands, they’ll kill her.

Paige is forced to dig deep into her father’s past and unearths shocking secrets about him and his bloodline. With the past and present colliding, Paige is only sure about two things in her life: she needs to outwit the dark spirits to stay alive, and she’s completely and helplessly in love with Nathan.

Now immortal, Paige is emotionally and physically stronger than ever. She must find the location of the ancient incantations to prevent mass genocide. But the war against good and evil is spawning another wara battle between the dark spirits themselves. Paige is saddled in the center of both growing revolutions and is ready to take on the dark forces. But Nathan’s overprotectiveness prevents her from taking action, and he’s hiding things.

Paige’s personal life gets more complicated when Brayden arrives back in town and offers the equal partnership she desperately craves from Nathan. Then there’s Carrie and Tree, her two best friends and only family she has left. Unfortunate circumstances thrust them into Paige’s dark world, giving her no choice but to allow Nathan to arm them with combat techniques in hope they’ll be able to protect themselves.

Meanwhile, Paige is having visions and discovering abilities she was unaware of. When Anwar comes to visit, his weird behavior alarms her. Could he be turning to the dark side?

Time is running out. Paige not only needs to find the incantations but also to untangle the bands around her heart and make a decision that could leave her with a life worse than deatha life of betrayal from the ones she trusted most.
Rebekkah Ford grew up in a family that dealt with the paranormal. Her parents’ Charles and Geri Wilhelm were the directors of the UFO Investigator's League in Fairfield, Ohio, back in the 1970s. They also investigated ghost hauntings and Bigfoot sightings in addition to UFO’s. Growing up in this type of environment and having the passion for writing is what drove Rebekkah at an early age to write stories dealing with the paranormal. At one point in her life, she thought she wanted to be a journalist, and although she enjoyed writing articles, she quickly discovered her real passion was writing fiction. Her fascination with the paranormal is what led her to write the ‘Beyond the Eyes’ series.

Happy Release Day
The Bitter End

Book one in the Golden Crown Series™

Bethany was born into a world of privilege and has never had to want for anything in her life. Her parents gave her everything, but the one thing she desired the most was love. When Bethany’s Mother dies her Father becomes even more distant with the immediate replacement of Bethany’s Mother by "Miko", a woman who has no compassion nor interest in Bethany whatsoever.

On her own and living in a penthouse, which is a lavish gift from her Father, Bethany ignores all responsibility as she lives on a weekly allowance her Father is sure to place into her bank account. With too much time on her hands Bethany is free to pursue other interests such as a boy she never cared for in school named Ryan Blackwell. Ryan is a male escort for hire and has made his living on pleasuring the higher echelons of New York society women, but when he meets Bethany his game is shifted from one of hunter to prey and he will soon find out that she is not the easy target he once imagined. Their torrid love affair is filled with a painful need to harm each other in every way, including the bedroom. Will Bethany finally receive the love she has always desired or will her lineage doom her forever?

A terrible past will build two things, a bridge to freedom or a gate to hell. Join the Players of The Golden Crown Series in book two as the saga continues.

Reluctantly accepting her fate, Bethany has settled into the role of "Mother" but never that of "wife". She feels the looming threat approaching that will leave her alone with Ryan as August and Cas near their 18th birthdays. She has spent years with prescription medication guiding her moods and emotions only to suddenly decide to allow the world to creep back in. With that she ventures out and finds danger at the hands of what may be her only redemption. This one act sets the chess game in motion as a new man enters their lives and Bethany finds it very hard to resist him. Threatened and fearing rejection, Ryan contacts an old enemy and invites the darkness back in. All the while, August and Cas both harbor dark secrets of their own, navigating a world both Ryan and Beth are not even aware of until it may be too late. Sometimes no matter what you do, the dragon will rise.
